My DH says when his father made donuts he would watch the weather first. He claimed there was a certain type of weather to make donuts in. Is this true? I know in candy making you need to watch the humidity but, had never heard of watching the weather for donuts.

I never heard of this for donuts. Donuts are a traditional food for Shrove Tuesday to use up fats before Lent. We've had rain and snow some years, and the donuts were always made.

Absolutely! When it is overcast, cold and rainy/snowy, it's a great time to make doughnuts, cookies, cake or anything chocolate! :D

You got that right! My mother was a 'from scratch' cook and baked almost everyday...she said only one thing that always stuck in my mind....never bake on day during your monthly period...cakes will fall flat and nothing will taste good. In my years of baking I have noticed this to be true for the most part.

I kid not..LOL...rare we buy donuts and when he gets something like Dunkin Donuts, always a dozen, at least 6 are gone very, very fast! :)

then I give like 4 to my Mom cause after his 6, he is done and Nicole might eat 2 sometimes. I have been known to throw a few out.

He wants them madly, always a dozen, eats 6 and forget the rest. Why, I say get 6, OH NO, he has to have 12! Drives me insane literally..HA HA HA---and he wonders what is wrong with me..HA HA

I'd think he would get sick but, you're right, if he's only going to eat 6 why buy 12?
