Sunday was a sort of cloudy day, cool and just perfect for a motorcycle ride. We went with a small group from the "Freewheelers."

I don't know how many of you have been to Arizona, but here in the desert, we have lots of sand and cactus! What is interesting is that on one side of the road, it looks dry and the vegetation is pretty sparce.
Like this.

But, when you look on the other side of the road, there for miles on end, are Alfalfa fields, as far as the eye can see.

Our Arizona desert does have a "forest" of sorts...

Here is an interesting photo of the motorcycles ahead of us on a curve.

At one of our stops for stretching our legs there was a fellow with his
dog friend that was able to ride on the motorcycle with him.

I thought she was pretty cute, here is close up of her.
He had a way of strapping her to the seat so she couldn't fall off.

We stopped for lunch at a restaurant that serves a combination of Mexican and Chinese food. The Emerald Chicken is my favorite.
Here is the group at lunch.

The traditional food fight, came early when Rich spilled his entire drink on the table just as he sat down!

We stopped for gas along the way, here is the bike all dressed up for a trip.

The bike has some really neat new mirrors, they have signal lights in them!

On the way home there was a very nice sunset.

So hope you enjoyed the photos of our latest ride.

Beautiful pics! What kind of bike is that? I sure do like those mirrors with the turn lights in them.

It's a Harley of course! Technically it is a 2003, 100 Year Anniversary Edition Road King.

Yeah Harley has a lot of different models. Did you get it new? How many miles you got on it? It's a gorgeous bike.

No, we didn't get it new... it only has 15,000 miles. My husband bought it about 2 years ago. From a fellow here in Tucson, it was a gift from his wife back in 2003. He hadn't ridden it in almost 7 years so... he was selling it.

It is my husband's pride and joy!! He has lots of different "outfits" for her...
It is his "Steel Barbie" He can congfigure it from a solo "sporty" to a "full dresser"
in just a couple of minutes, with quick disconnects.

In that pic of the bikes on the curve, is the second bike one of those backwards trikes? I've never seen one in person, and would love to know how they handle.

Beautiful pics. How do they get the alfalfa to grow in the desert? Do they need to irrigate it a ton, or what?

Beautiful pix! I've never been west - hope to see the desert one of these days.

I have a friend in the UK who rides - I always think it's weird to see his pix as no one rides Harleys - all the bikes are BMWs and such, crotch rockets. I've always wanted a smaller "girly" Harley!

Wondering about the alfalfa also.

Beautiful pictures and a very nice scoot! I have always wanted to get out West but haven't made it yet.

The Wife and I on our wedding day, on our 1997 Wide Glide. My ponytail is tucked into my shirt collar to stop the tangles.

I'm sure I've metioned this before - my sister lives in Phoenix on the Scottsdale side. We've been to AZ a few times and it is quite breathtaking. Such a different atmosphere from my side of the US - here you're lucky to see 10-15 miles away when you're on the top of a hill, there you can see for hundreds of miles from the top of a mountain!

Well, that three wheeler, is a sort of quick disconnect trailer "thingy" that makes it a trike. Kind of weird looking, but gives the ability for a large trunk and it has a trailer hitch so you could pull a small trailer.

Yes, the fields are irrigated. We also grow cotton here, miles and miles of cotton, (Ever heard of Pima Cotton? That is from Pima County, Arizona. Named after the Pima Indians who harvested the cotton in the USA. But the cotton was developed from a cotton native to South America. Your Trivia lesson for the day)

We get most our irrigation water from the Colorado River. It is a 336 mile long delivery system. You can read about it here. http://www.usbr.gov/lc/phoenix/projects/capproj.html
