My mom called - my brother had called her from Germany and said he's definitely coming home end of July BUT.........

HIS WIFE AND TWO DAUGHTERS ARE ALREADY HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :celebrate :weee :ya

We have a wedding tomorrow, and my SIL (this is my FAVORITE SIL) and my two nieces will be there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My nieces are now 7 and 6 - and we haven't seen them in 3 years :th They've been in Germany for 4 years. (Got to come home for our cousins funeral in August 2007 because he was killed in Bagdad).

I'm so excited!!

Sick or not, I'm dragging myself to that wedding!!

I'm glad you get to see your nieces and favorite SIL soon. Sorry that your brother is coming home for a sad occasion, but I'm glad you get to reunite. :)

I really hope you are not sick for that wedding. :fl

Does your brother, his wife, or the kids speak German? Seems like a hard language to learn.

The sad occasion was 2 years ago, and it was horrible, and very hard on all of us, but it was also a proud moment for us, because our cousin gave for our country. My cousin has a little boy who was 5 months old at the time of his death, and that little boy was named after my brother who's coming home.

I don't know if they speak any German or not. I would expect that maybe my nieces do a little, because they were so young when they were stationed there and they started school there.

They're home for good this time! Well, state side! Their new station is in Ft. Leonardwood, Missouri. My brother is going to be a drill Sargent! He only has a year left, so I don't know if he's going to re-enlist or not. He's served for the last 13 or 14 years. Signed up when he was 16 I think. He's 29 now, will be 30 in October.

Wow. My brothers and I are getting OLD.

I'm hoping I'm better for the wedding, too. It's my cousins wedding - he's 21 and was the ring bearer at mine and E's wedding 12 years ago...so that really makes me feel old :th

Hee hee . . . don't worry, you aren't really that old YET. ;) I know what you mean, though. :) I'm lucky to be the youngest sibling in my family and younger than my husband so I always feel like I am doing better than they are as they count the years flying by.

Very cool that your brother will be staying here now. I bet everyone in your family is thrilled about that.

I see I misread your first post. I'm glad that this will be a happy occasion this time!

I hope you have fun at the wedding! :D

:clap Yeah, good for you!! I hope you feel better for the occasion. I love long lost relatives!!!

The girls most likely speak some German. They probably went to a DOD's (department of defence school) which is normal for most military kids. It's kinda hard to live there and not speak some of the language. Kids pick up second languages so easy over there.

Missouri huh?? Sounds like a great place for him to work state side.

Have fun, take lots of pictures!!!!

:bun :celebrate Sounds like you guys are going to have a blast being back close to each other.

I know exactly how you feel on the getting older part. Almost same situation too. DH's brother was 8 when we met. He's 22 now and in college :th

We have a fold out couch, so I'm thinking about asking my SIL if she and the girls would like to spend a weekend here sometime. She is here without a car right now (their car is still in Germany with my brother and will ship over when he comes home), so we'd have to pick her and the girls up and take them home again. (to her mother's.)

I hope I get to talk to her A LOT tomorrow!

It will sure be easier for you to see him and his family now that they are stateside.

Fort Leonard Wood is only a little over an hour from our lake cabin. ;)
