do ya'll have a suggestion for something that will help my husband?

He has lots of muscle pain; back, arms, shoulders, etc. He thinks it has lots to do with getting older and still trying to work like he was 20. The thing is, he hurts quite often, and has been taking loratabs. They help, but he doesn't take them too often because he doesn't want to get addicted.

Is there something that works for muscle pain that's natural?

Massage therapy!!!

Ice applied correctly.

A correct stretching/strengthening program.

A diet that does not promote inflammation.

Anti-inflammatory supplements when a big job calls for too many hours of work all at once, weekend warrior-style.

There really are no natural "pills" that will allow us to mistreat our bodies and then not have to pay for it. I say that with love.....we are used to taking a pill so we can do whatever we want. One of the big downfalls of "modern" medicine. Changing that mindset is one of the best things we can do.

BTW, I tend to be one of the worst "weekend-warrior-types" I know!!! But I am married to a massage therapist, and consult for a supplement company, and know how to stretch, so I have my bases pretty much covered. Didn't used to, do now. Suffered quite a bit until I figured it out, though.

Epsom salts in the bath is good.
I take Chelated Magnesium to relax muscles and sooth the nervous system. Read up on it to see if it appeals to you. Too much magnesium at once will loosen stools, so small doses are better.

I take MSM for inflammation or turmeric, or cherries (yum). Celery seed sometimes too.

drink organic black cherry juice

I had those aches and pains and all those creaks, and since I started drinking this every morning---they are very improved.

rest of the board is good advice

another is SLOW DOWN---life is too short to go thru taking your health or pushing the limits. It is not worth it! I am finally learning that lesson! :)

My Dad used to say---a blunt hammer to the head----stops all pain instantly...for a while!

Tony came in achey from hard work and limping....he said he needed pain help---I said a blunt hammer to the head and you'll feel wonderful for a while! He didn't think it was funny---hmm...my family joke, I forgot to mention it was a joke..HA HA HA

What everyone said already, adding massage or a rub with St John's wort oil.
I make ours, put St john's wort flowers in a jar, fill with oil, I usually use vitamin E oil, olive oil gets too sticky, haven't tried grape seed oil. Leave jar in a sunny window sill for several weeks. Strain and use oil on achey muscles.

If some of the aches and pains are do to arthritis, he might try taking apple cider vinegar.
I have a glass every day containing about 2 tbs unfiltered, unpasturized apple cider vinegar (If I can find it, this year I made my own) 1/2 tsp local wild unfiltered honey and water. On cold days, I use hot water. On hot days, this is a refreshing drink with cold water. You can add more honey, I just don't like things that sweet. It is kind of like drinking the salad dressing in the bottom of the bowl.

My grandmother did this and it really helped her arthritis, so when I mine started flaring up, I remembered that this was one of the things she did for it. She also ate nearly raw liver and took condroitin and glucosamin. And she did yoga. She did a number of other things and went from being nearly immobilized with pain to being an active person again in a matter of about 6 months.

The ACV is also helping me with chronic acid reflux. I haven't had a flare-up since I started this early this spring.

ya know I figured out that 99% of the aches and pains and all that mess---I do to myself. I allow it. I am learning never to get to those limits anymore. Time to take care of ME! and the old body! LOL

I am starting to make Tony understand that....just slow down on the work. Work is work is work and it will always be there. Life with little pain won't....if we continue to go full speed when the old body says NO--give me a rest! :p

You said it. Time to slow it down. Delegate, if you can. I have pretty much learned it for myself, but have a hard time convincing SO that he really is not 20 anymore and shouldn't expect so much out of hmself. Of course it doesn't help that his father thinks that SO is 15 and treat him that way too. :p
