So I've started making things with my crochet skills (I'm hoping to add knitted things and quilted things to the list a bit later on) and want to know if I put my crafts up for sale here, would I have an interested audience, or would I be wasting my time? I'm working on a shoulder wrap pattern, and I can do scarves and hats, pot holders (decorative and useful), etc.

Do let me know, I'd like to try and earn a little extra money, until at least I am allowed to get a job down here.

Hmmm.....probably not the best place as most everyone here is here because they make everything themselves or make do or buy at tag sales and Good Will and such. Maybe on byc? Huge audience over there! Do some things with chicks or hens on them and you'll probably sell them in a blink!

I would recommend Etsy or finding local fairs and markets. Best of luck to you.

Yes, start and Etsy account. And try BYC as well.
I already knit and crochet, so I tend to not purchase these types of things.

If i wasn't so dirt poor, i would love to buy an afghan blanket or slippers. The wood floor gets cold when your only heat is a boxwood stove. What about bartering with other people who do crafts? I know a couple of people who regularly sell stuff on ebay. Im new to this site, but it sounds like alot of us are selfsufficient because we have to be. But hand-crafted items and art objects of all types are growing in popularity among those who can afford them.

Okay, no audience here then. And I'd hate to go to BYC to just sell stuff, expecially as I haven't any reason to be on the forum at all (no chickens or anything). I'll look up this etsy thing you're talking about, see what it is.

etsy is your best bet, but the competition there is CUTTHROAT. if you're not prepared to devote yourself to photography techniques, description writing, cutesy banners, and etc, you will have trouble getting noticed there. if you're willing/able to put some work into making a shop there though, it can be awesome. i actually have been living entirely on income from my etsy shop and one other online venue for the past 18 months. (i'm very, very frugal though.)
