Nerd help needed for Word docs

Suddenly all my Word docs are full of funny symbols....a dot between each word, arrows, and paragraph signs....and other things. I must've hit a key by mistake, right? But what? How do I turn this off? Hubby says it doesn't print with all the new symbols, but I just CAN'T work with my documents like this. I also can't drive with anything on the dashboard....the reflection on the inside of the windshield drives me nuts.

I sat down to work on my classes and all my notes are messed up! HELP!


I'm so frustrated, every time I set aside time to get this thing started something goes wrong!

Sounds like a corrupted font. Have you tried changing fonts on your documents?

Another option is to download a copy of open office and open your documents using open office. You may have to reformat some stuff, but you will be able to read the documents.

Sent email.

When I open a new document, a blank one, it has the paragraph symbol already on it. I cannot clean up the documents by deleting....it doesn't work on the strange symbols.

Ahhhh!!!! I nerded it myself. There is a paragraph symbol in the toolbar that was clicked, I unclicked it and all the symbols disappeared from all the documents!

It takes so little to frazzle me sometimes!!!!

The paragraph button in the toolbar shows or hides the formatting, so a dot equals a space, a paragraph mark will show where you hit enter, an arrow will show where you tabbed, etc. There needs to be a little "formatting showing" flag or something -- this trips up a lot of people.

I just email it to myself, or upload it to google docs. That way, I don't lose it. Of course, now I've got Carbonite and that does my backups for me.
