I.thought you all might enjoy this conversation. My third oldest son and I installed a new dish washer for my MIL 100% free of charge. The first time she used it she said it doesn't work. Doesn't get the dishes clean and they we're still wet at the end of the cycle.
Hey Marge I don't recall but does that dish washer have a hi temp wash and heated dry option? Like this?
Yes
Does it heat the water when selected?
No
If you don't select heated wash it will wash at the temperature of your hot tap water. I don't know how hot you have your water set at the hot water heater.
I will test it again tomorrow let you know
Ok, I'll come over and look at it... It may need a new heat element. It's in the bottom of the dishwasher. Looks like a heat element that's in a electric oven
OK
So when you select hi temp wash. It should fill up the bottom with water. Then the heat element comes on briefly and heats the water. Then it will run the wash cycle and drain. After it's done the heat element will come back on to dry the dishes. You should be able to open the door and notice it's hot in there.
Ok I'll watch it
I'll come over after work tommorow and take a look at it and test the heat element. I'll send you a txt before I leave
OK
I used the dishwasher and did the high temp. And it got them clean and dry. Before I didn't use high temp. Never had to with my others was automatic. Guess others were better machines.
Welcome to the energy efficient realm of oboma regulations. Those setting are there so the machines actually work but are defaulted to off to meet the energy star requirements. Just be thankful you don't need any new oboma water saver faucets they suck.
LOL
Watch this YouTube video. The guy has some great tips. --->
Also try and run your hot water in the sink until it gets hot then start your dishwasher on hi temp wash and heated dry settings.
I always run water til hot but thanks for the tips.
Well let me know if it's still not working and we can up the temperature on your hot water heater a little. These post oboma energy star newer machines just aren't the same as the older pre oboma energy star regulated machines were. It's a new world after 8 years of oboma.
OK
