I'm new to this forum. My 1949 Craftsman table saw has finally seen its last project, and amazingly Sears only has a few parts availble. So I'm looking for a saw in the 1000.00 range.was looking at the Jet. Had purchased some of their equipment over the years for my mantenance shop at work. Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks
Tom

I've compared the $1000 Jet's to the 4512 by Ridgid for $600. Buy the Ridgid, it's a quality saw. Just make sure you have help getting it out of the box, it is extremely heavy. I put a different blade and a blade stabilizer on mine and it cuts beautifully. The only problem I have is that my blade is slightly less thick than my riving knife, so I do get some binding once in a while. The fence is solid, the castors work smoothly. It's quiet, no magnetic BANG when you start it up. I would caution to not put on the dust collection bottom on it unless you have a 5 inch port for your DC system. It makes cleaning the saw's interior kind of hard. I'm all for just letting the sawdust fall into a box under the saw.
