I am Kelly, obviously from Oklahoma, Lol. My DH and I have 4 children between us all under 9. we also have 4 fur babies, a 1 yr old great Pyrenees mix, 2 rotten cats, and a 9yr old rat terrier mix that my best friend could no longer keep.

My DH and I are studying Psychology to become LADC (Licensed Alcohol and Drug Councilors). I am also looking into some other form of psychology to help children with spectrum disorders.

My DH and I are new to the whole gardening, being self-reliant, and having animals for food. we have none of these things yet actually, but I have been making my own laundry and dish soap for about a year now. :)

we are wanting to do a garden, have rabbits for meat, chickens for eggs and meat when no longer laying, as well as becoming more self-sufficient, so we can teach all of our children in case something bad ever really does happen, then everyone can take care of themselves, as well as it saves money in the long run and gives you something to be proud of because it was worked for.

It also tastes a lot better because it isn't full of preservatives and other weird stuff.

oh i forgot to add, we want all Non-GMO as well.. we have a big family (there are 9 people in our house). so we cannot eat strictly organic/non-gmo currently. but we do when we can, so we are wanting a non-gmo garden. thank you for all of the welcomes.

Rabbits and chickens make some of the best fertilizer for your garden. You'll have to get a compost area ready as well.

check with neighbors too, for manures and other compostables. We are lucky enough to live a couple of miles from a horse rescue, and they give me all the horse manure I can use. One time when we were living in California, the people across the street were demolishing their prune orchard; we helped them take it out, and got to take home as much wood chips as we wanted.

:frow Welcome from Kansas! Being able to do for yourself and your family is a great feeling! Take small steps and you won't feel so overwhelmed. Don't be afraid to ask questions, we all have opinions here that may differ, but you'll read something that feels right for YOU.
