So cool Quail,

Iam sure you'll do fine, that would be a real boost to being SS,making money at what you love isn't half bad.

Let use know, how it goes. it woudl be interesting to know what the procedure is.Not that I will ever be doing it, but knowledge is knowledge.

Ok, he got here a little after 3 pm, testing was complete by 4 pm. He had to test 20 chickens and five ducks.

We passed the pullorum/typhoid part with flying colors, but the AI is sent off to a lab, but I'm sure that will come back OK, too. He said my NPIP packet with my number and test results should be back in 2 weeks. Give or take a few days.

Anyway, the Pullorum test is a blood test, and he swaps a drop of blood in an anitgen. It gives the result in 30 seconds, so when he was done testing the chickens I knew instantly if we tested clean. We did! :ya He pulls a couple feathers out from under one of the wings, sticks them with a needle, and catches a drop of blood. Simple!

The AI test is an oral swap down the throat for the chickens.

Ducks are only tested for AI. That's a rear end swab for them.

Anyway, it's all done, I'm good for a year, and it means I can now ship live birds!! :ya

I sure got my exercise yesterday rounding up chickens in the pouring rain and mud. We did 25 chickens and at least 10 ducks at my place. When we were done, I was soaked and covered in poo. :sick
