Has anyone ever had this done? It is a "comprehensive nutritional evaluation" that my new doc ran on me. I equate it to a soil sample of your blood & urine. It tests all of your vitamin & mineral levels, anti-oxidants, amino acids, & a bunch of other stuff. I probably wouldn't have had it done if my insurance didn't cover it (I only paid $170 for about $1700 worth of tests), but it yielded some really interesting info. It gives you a personalized list of recommendations of supplements (not a specific brand, just the type and amount). I just got the results today, and am going to start supplementing & see if I FINALLY start feeling better!!

I did a dna test a few years ago that was really cool. The company has updated it since and I'd love to do it again since they've added more gene SnP's that they test.

One thing I like about the genetic test is that you have the same genes from conception to death. Blood and saliva give you a snapshot of today, but your genes never change. Not saying the blood and saliva tests aren't valid, they are very valuable. I did make a bunch of changes based on my genetic test and also was validated on a bunch of things I was already doing that were working well....now I know why. I also learned about predispositions that I have that are now symptomless but will be problematic later in life, and I changed some things based on that.

Insurance didn't cover it, but when I was working normal hours, it was very affordable for what I got from it. The new one makes even more recommendations, as it was an emerging field when I first got it done and the field of nutragenomics is really blossoming now. Wanna do it again!

I think the genetic testing is very interesting, too. My mother is positive for the BRCA gene mutation, and so I was tested for that. I, thankfully, am negative, but it's wonderful to know about. Ovarian cancer is EXTREMELY common in the women in my family, and it was a relief to know that my risk isn't any more than the general population. Which led me to FINALLY go off BCP (and then quickly realize how badly THAT messes up your natural workings!). But I digress.... :D
