I am making salsa today, for the first time. I wore gloves to cut up the peppers, but what I did NOT know is that you need RUBBER gloves, NOT latex! I have washed my hands a million times, and they still burn like crazy. Short of living in my freezer for the next couple of days, does anyone know what I can do to relieve the burning?

I would treat it as a burn- try aloe. Don't touch your eyes, nose (or any other delicate areas!!)

here's whatcha do!!! do this now!!! dont stop!!! run to your kitchen and get the olive oil

now pour some in your hand and rub it on your hands like you were washing them... but just use the oil

feel the relief???? it totally works.

i was in a bad way last summer and someone (wooddustmaker???) gave me this cure. i had to do it a couple times but it WORKS!!!!

Please don't forget to wipe off whatever container you got your solvent from. (or better yet, have someone get it for you) A lesson from experience.

These are great tips! Lucky for me hubby volunteered to do the peppers. He said it didn't bother his hands, but the corn he had for lunch had a little extra zip. :D

I've tried the "other oil" (any other oil will work to dilute/take away the pepper oil) with mixed results. I find soaking the area in cold milk makes it feel better. Other than that, ya just got to wait it out.

the pepper fingers hurt so good :gig

I have arthritis. Not bad...but enough to be cranky sometimes. If it wasn't for my ability to manage to rub my eye after I get it on my hands EVERY SINGLE TIME, I wouldn't mind. The pepper actually feels good when my hands hurt :p
