One of dogs has been very sick. We knew he was slowing down the past few weeks and brought him in to the vet Monday. He found a large mass on his liver. I was home sick so DH brought Jack home thinking we'd keep him comfortable then bring him in later in the week to be put to sleep. He didn't make it. He died on the living room floor a few minutes ago. I wish I'd been in the room but I wasn't. I was feeding the other two dogs and when I went back to check he'd stopped breathing. :(

I'm sorry. I know how you feel. We just recently lost 2 of our dogs.

I know they are in a better place. Just 2 nights ago I had a dream about them. They were both laying together on the grass beside a well beaten path. The dappled sunshine made their fur almost glow. We had to put both of them down. Know I know 100% that we made the right decision.

I hope just knowing he is in no longer in pain gives you comfort.

Thanks everyone. I do know he's in a better place. I'm glad he didn't go on the floor of the vet's office too.
I'm missing all the dogs I've known and lost tonight. Punkin's dream reminds me of one I had years after we'd had our beloved Golden Retriever put to sleep. I was lost and realized I was standing on chunks of ice that were floating down a river. I was panicking not knowing how to get to shore. All of a sudden, there was Arlo guiding me to the shore. I woke up feeling like there was a dog on either side of me on the bed. Just for an instant. Then I remembered only one of our dogs slept on the bed. It was weird! And yet comforting.
