We're getting piggies!!!!!!!

My mom's new neighbor has a litter of piglets due soon! I asked my mom to tell him that we want TWO of them!! They'll be ready to go in January!!

Fresh hams, fresh porkchops, fresh bacon....LARD!

We're starting on the piggie housing once the chicken run is done!

I think my mom said they are pink and black piggies.

What's a fair price for feeder pigs?? I've been seeing them on CL for $50 or more. This guy wants $60 each. We didn't think that was bad.

They'll just be weaned when we get them.

Nope, I'm not planning to get attached. I'm hoping I'll hate them so I'll find the butchering very desireable.

Oh boy! I can attest to THAT!! One of ours got loose a few months ago...we chased her for about an hour!! Hubby was ready to spear her with the hoe....I screamed...DONT HIT THE HAMS!!!
I was just glad to get her back inside the pen....and now..they leave this friday...WOOHOO!!
Congrats on getting piggies...all I can say is...build that pen like you are trying to keep an elephant in it...they are great diggers...and escape artists. Next year, we will rebuild our pen, useing wood fencing, and electric!!
