It is finally "official" my husband's company is relocating the entire North American Manufacturing to Florence, South Carolina. Within the next 30 days we will know if we are "invited" to be moved.

The office here has been "support" for a manufacturing plant in Mexico. But with the continued violence in Mexico, the engineers here refuse to go down to the Mexican Plant anymore. But with this move they are cutting the number of employees by 1/3!

I guess South Carolina made the company a great offer so, in the next 30 days we will know if my husband still has a job or not. They will offer him a good layoff package I am sure, since he has been with the company over 30 years. And he has a pension plan with them.

I covet your prayers for this transition.

I would love to leave this desert!!

On the bright side, Florence S.C. is a nice area, country but not too backwoods :) DH worked a construction job at a steel plant nearby there a few years ago. IF you make it down there, you absolutely MUST go to The Old Mediteranean Restaurant(and ship me a calzone)! They have the best food :drool I always remember the best eateries from our time on the road and relate those places to the city  That was by far one of my top 5 picks of eateries all over the South. Simply delicious ;) I hope things work out the way you want them to. :hugs I for one, always love a change of scenery, and actually miss our travelling at times. Being like a Gypsy was fun while it lasted :D

Having been in this situation myself, I wish you well through the stress and decisions coming your way. Pray and consider everything you are told and given to study. Don't let anyone in the HR department try to rush you into any decision you don't feel comfortable with, be it moving or taking a package. Do what is best for your family.

If you decide to check out the new town, video each house and property. It will make it easier for you when you are back at the old place trying to make a decision. Moving cross country to a totally different part of the country has its plus and minuses. I wish you only pluses. May God be with you and your husband every step of the way helping you with the process.

It sounds like you are considering this an opportunity either way. Praying for God's guidance for you.

And that's the best way to look at it. God will open the door He wants you to go thru, whether it's staying there, moving to SC, or going in a completely different direction. Prayers for you both.

I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
You sound like you would like to move and the Carolinas are a nice area, so you may be very happy about this whole situation in the future.
Keep us posted.

I will be praying for God's direction for you.
South Carolina is a nice state; we lived in Columbia for a couple of years a while back, and loved it!
