A dear lady has given me a gallon can each of chocolate fudge (flavored) ice cream topping and Peter Pan peanut butter ice cream topping. Can break them down to more manageable sizes and re-can them? I know they will need to be pressure canned, if at all. How long would I process them, if it is an appropriate thing to do.

Thanks much. Crazy days around here...sorry not to be participating more. My dad is very ill, dying slowly, and he is becoming angry and violent... Off topic...just explaining.

i dont know either.. but if i were there i'd help you with them toppings.. mixed together over vanilla.. oh yeah.

i think you need some chocolate love with everything that is going on. ice cream fixes just about everything.

sorry to hear about your situation.

Thank you all so much. He's always been an abusive person, but it is increasing in intensity and frequency now. He is debilitated enough to not be able to do for himself in some ways, but when his rage comes it's like he is 30 years younger. I just keep praying....

This must be very tough for you on many levels. In all seriousness, how about having all friends and family over (the ones who are supportive) for a huge ice-cream sundae potluck? I'm not kidding. It sounds like you could use some cheer right now!

That would be SUCH a great solution to both problems ! I love the way you think. And I don't mean to throw a wet blanket on it either, but just to give a bit of background: My sister is mentally ill, and does not "permit" her adult children to socialize with me or my parents. (One niece does on the sly.) My brother lives a thousand miles away with his family and we see them every other year. And that's the whole clan.

I am the errand runner, doctor's appointment keeper, power of attorney, and the chief cook and bottle washer for Mom and Dad. My daughter supports me, but she has a family of five, works full time, and is on the fast track to get her Masters, so I don't expect physical assistance, just her amazing "I am going to be a family therapist, and then a family attorney" emotional support.

And most of us are diabetic ! LOLOL Had to throw that in.

But you know what...ice cream sounds amazing right now...since it snowed in the San Joaquin Valley today ! (Happens maybe once every ten years. Didn't hit our town, but it's 2:35 AM and 29 degrees, so it's six of one and half a dozen of the other.)

Since the stuff is in a can already, I will leave it alone I guess and maybe in the summer will have a big ice cream party for my grandchildren and their friends. I think that's an excellent solution !!!

Thanks all...

Kris
