DH is a wonderful man and I adore him but criminny I gotta vent!

We have a solid plan. We worked together to set our priorities. We sit down regularly to adjust them to conditions and we are generally on the same page.

But, we both know he isn't good with cash. He can carry a credit card for weeks and never touch it. Let him carry cash and it burns a hole in his pocket!

:he

I told him i was going to cash out my paycheck this week to use for the expenses for the next two weeks. I was taking out extra because I needed to pay off my contact lenses.

Yesterday he was off and I was at work. He went to the bank to get the cash "for me". He took out $500 and got home with $120 and a load of stuff he swore we "needed". He hadn't even gotten the gallon of milk I told him to pick up! :barnie

It's like he can only do the tightwad frugal thing for so long then he blows it!!! :th

I'm sorry.

My husband and I have separate accounts. That means that if we want to spend each other's money we have to ask first. ;) I think it saves us from having arguments about finances.

Sometimes I go through periods of spending more, but for the most part I am pretty good at sticking to saving. I think, for myself, I need to spend every once in a while to remind myself why I stick to saving. :p

I'm with drakemaiden. Every once in a while I spend some, but I'm getting better.

I had some friends that were similiar to you and your DH...except he was much worse. She had him on a strict allowance and he wasn't even allowed to know their bank account #!

...And sometimes DH can be not so D.

I don't think of it as MY money. The only reason I mentioned it as MY paycheck is because he gets paid on the weeks I do not.

Every dime we have is OURS. He made a stupid mistake, but they are rare. (He bought a bunch of stuff for the girls, not himself. I could have gotten it all cheaper and would have waited to get it.....)

OK, my mistake, I thought you said the cash was, "for me." I guess I took "me" as meaning for your own uses.

Wow! $380 in one afternoon!! My DH is the same way! If he has $20 in his pocket he will spend $10 a day on eating out for lunch and vending machines. If he has no $$ he will pack his lunch and there is always stuff here at home for him to take for his lunch!! I can send him to the store to get WIC and he will come home with $20 in other stuff just because the two littles asked for it or it is their 'favorite'!!
