Ok, so the last time my body worker was working on us, the table leg broke. Well, it was broken, this time it broke THROUGH the table...

Here is a photo of the broken bracket:

Here is a photo of how it is supposed to look:

If you look closely at the first photo, you can see the damage where the table leg actually punched between the bottom and side wall of the table.
So I am trying to fabrciate something to hold the leg in the correct position, and that will have some reinforcement to prevent the problem from happening again.
We bought some 1" corner brackets at Depot the other day, but I was worried about the corner brackets not being able to support the upward pressure from the table leg, and the screws ripping out of the wood. Then I got to wondering about adding a simple hinge bracket inside the corner, and then screwing the L brackets to that, so the screw would go through both pieces on the side wall of the table, and the metal of the hinge would prevent the leg from breaking through the corner again.

Anybody got any better (simple and cheap!) ideas??

they sell the same kinda brackets at wally world and any boat supply place but the ones at boat supply shops is aluminum not plastic. i have done the repair before on fellow students tables when i went to Blue Cliff in Gulfport MS. you might find something similar at a hardware store.

Any specific part name??? I'll have to venture to wally world (ew!) soon!

Thanks a bunch for the suggestion! (Maybe I'll just buy her all metal parts if the price is right!)
