My cat tore up the carpet at the bedroom door. The damage is too wide to hide with a wider transition strip, but I do have some remnants of that carpet lying around. What's the best way to repair the carpet using the remnant?

Good question and I wish you luck. I was hoping you posted how you did it. I can't get my cat to stop tearing at the carpet in my daughters room. It's right on the edge by the door. I hope someone here can help us both.

We just cut away the ragged edge and then cut a piece of the remnant to fit the gap. We used carpet tape on the bottom to connect the two pieces and the other end of the patch is held down by the transition strip. It looks better than it did, but the seam is still visible. :(

You will have to measure and cut the patch very carefully but it is possible to hide it. It would help if your carpet has a bit of pile to it, though, as the pile can be fluffed over on the edges to hide the seam.
