With the ever increasing price of water here in the desert, I decided to take out the lawn area under the clotheslines. I know Spartacus will not be happy about that! He loves to roll in the grass there. But... it is just too expensive to keep it watered and green all year.

Here is a photo of the area after I dug out all the dead grass.

Here it is after I layed down the flagstones.
(On top of 400lbs of sand!!)

Now I am in the process of cutting pieces of artificial grass to go between the stones. That is not an easy job!! When I get it done I will show you how it looks. I have less than 25% of it done at the moment.

Nice garden too, I would never have known you lived in the desert if you hadn't mentioned it.

Great idea, I can't wait to see the finished pics. Here in So Cal we are struggling with water as well....no fun!

We are also having a water shortage, and we are a stones throw away from Seattle!!! My yard looks like cr@p!! But I can't cover an acre with flagstone!
