This has been a busy time with the chickens. Found out that I needed to de-worm them so found someone to help through that one. Then one of my hen's has bumble foot, then have 2 go broody. Those chickens have kept me jumping this last week. But so far things are going okay got the 1st part of de-worming done did the bumble foot surgery done now just cleaning and changing bandage. Been working on crocheting for now. We lost our house computer in the last storm one power surge computer won't turn on now. It was on a power strip nothing else went bad or quit working so not sure what the problem is. Still waiting on unemployment to fix their mistake with DH paperwork. So things just seem bleak right now. Trying to stay positive and work things out one day at a time. Today is my oldest son's birthday I can't believe he is 19 already. I keep dreaming about getting a farm I am so sick of living in town. Just wish things would start getting a little easier, at least my 2 grand daughters are growing and doing well I love those girls so much. They live with me so seeing them everyday is so great. The oldest grand daughter will be 2 in October and the 2nd will be one in December. I hope everyone has a great weekend, and to all the dad's out there happy fathers day.

Welcome aboard, There are several folks here who are not on a farm yet, may never get to the farm but it doesn't matter cause there is so much you can do right in the city. We managed to get back to the country this past year but when I was in the city that is when I started to learn about food storage and canning... and it sounds like you are about where I'm at with the garden and your way ahead of me on chickens!

You can save a lot of money canning if you shop at the farmers market and can for the year.

:welcome I am a bit slow to this party, but HOWDY!

I am a city farmer myself and I have been at it for around 25 + years! I was an urban homesteader before I knew there was such a thing!

Of course I too dream of a farm someday, but so far that has just not happened for me so I follow my instincts and Live the Good Life right where I am. It is amazing what you can accomplish with the will to try. Right now I grow lots of different fruit, a big garden and raise chickens and turkeys for meat as well as keep hens for my own fresh eggs. I also LOVE to can and preserve.

If you are serious about success you have come to the right place. Everyone on this forum is friendly, patient and full of great knowledge to share. Glad to have you on board!

Thanks for all the nice welcome's and kind words. I think I am just having a streak of bad luck. First the house compute dies, then my hot water heater dies. We are boiling water on the stove just like my grandma used to lol. Our one roommate ups and moves out which hurts due to DH unemployment paper work mess up their fault not ours but they have up to 7 weeks to fix it. but no unemployment until they fix their mistake. Just seems like I can't get ahead of things right now. I am growing the garden I have the chickens, my nectarine tree has fruit this year none on my apple tree did plant 2 raspberry bushes this year. Not sure if I will see any raspberries this year or not. I think I am going to look into getting some different fruit bushes and planting those. thanks again.,
