Shelving with a twist...

We want to build some wood shelves for our living room. The only difference between what we want and regular shelves is that we want them supported by cables, like those used to hang pictures in galleries, instead of wall brackets.

Has anyone seen plans for cable supported shelves?

Nope. As long as you aren't making them to sell. If you make them to sell and advertise, then the patent infringement comes into play.

I took a look at the link and it looks like the patent uses ropes.

Wouldn't the cables be totally different?

Not only would the material not be traditional rope, but the shelves would be held in place by some sort of clamp, wouldn't they?
