My God we survived!
I haven't been around much in the last month. Just in case you don't remember, as I was fairly new anyway, my spouse (the bread winner) had to quit her job. Well, she found a new one... in Beaverton , OR several hundred miles away! We had been talking about moving to that area for a number of years, and God seemed to be telling us something, so we listened! We are just about ready to put the house on the market after only 3.5 weeks from the time they offered her the job. We are completely moved and are now paying mortgage AND rent... and just hoping the house goes really fast.
I really liked the house and yard work, but I really didnt realize how much of my time and energy it took up! I think our fixer-upper house was a bit beyond our abilities to keep up with after the baby came. We are in an apartment now. We sit on the porch at night and look out at the lovely green space that we are lucky to have (this complex is a rare fine, more like a neighborhood!) and marvel at how we don't have to care for it! I think our next house will be our "forever" house, and will have a lower maintenence yard. I don't mind doing things, but I want time/energy to enjoy my life too! Perhaps instead of a big yard, we will have fields that the goats and chickens can "mow" if they choose! I have to admit that this is a nice break, even if I do miss my gardens. I will get them again some day. For now I will have tomatoes and peppers in old buckets, and maybe look into some pots for lettuce... maybe more next year.
