Well I had this issue this afternoon. I had a LOAD of leftovers, so I just had them all  We had 3 fried chicken thighs left from Tuesday's super, a half a grilled burger left from Monday, and half an onion left from the burger meal, and a half head of cabbage and a couple slices of bacon. Not enough of anything to slap together to make a meal really.

So I chopped up everything and tossed it into the trusty old cast iron skillet. I put in a tablespoon of bacon grease and let it all fry down together. It turned out GREAT! I was a bit suprised. I put some baked potatoes with it and it was pretty good :)

Supper lately has been SUCH a stinkin chore. I have started to dread it worse than milking that crazy goat! :th

I needs some new recipes folks. Quick stuff. We've done deer and chicken until we are about burned out *sigh* Any ideas?

I hear ya on the chore part of it. We have been doing larger meals and stretching them for leftovers. Tonight we did a turkey 13 lbs for 3 of us but it'll last all weekend for us. Turkey sandwiches, some turkey salad and then a casaroll or maybe a soup. :) So no big cooking this weekend. Now we can get some stuff around the house done this weekend.

Wish my family wasn't so picky with the kind of meat they'll eat. We are a family of 3 now too with just the youngest DD left at home now. It is so hard to cook things everybody will eat left over, and even then, they tend to get sick of leftovers  so I guess I am stuck improvising. It's just so tiring!

Turkey sounds good! But I am the only one who will eat it more than twice

I always cook enough to have leftovers. And I also will throw it all in one pan and fry it up.
Its never turned out bad.

One addition I like, is to take Masa Harina ( cornmeal will not work) a bit of salt and hot water to make a dough.
Shape into hamburgersized patties, and pan fry.
Serve with eggs over easy or peanut butter and real maple syrup.

Ok, now I am hungry...waders off to make corn cakes...

cooking is a friggin' chore....I sure agree. I am not a patient cook, I just feel chained to the stove :p

soup, salad, sandwiches

that is my easy way out and everyone loves it so I can easily get out of the rat race of cooking

Asking them anything is like pulling teeth. Every time I ask I get "I dunno...." :barnie

It was so much easier when DH worked out of town, because the kids liked soup, salad, sandwich.

I'm bout to go on kitchen strike :/

Pickyness goes out the window here. We have raised the little one to appreciate what we have for there are a lot of others with a lot less. Once a we do the restaraunt style cook night. Everyone can have what they want but the rest of the week we eat what is on the menu. With money getting tighter and food going up we can't afford to be picky anymore. Just a share with ya. Thanks

Oh I know what you mean. I just can't keep everything from getting redundant. We will all eat most anything, but after so many times it's just not appealing. I guess I need to explore some new recipes and invent some things. We have quit eating so much due to food allergies and trying to eat healthier it is just crazy trying to figure out what "sounds" good. I'm in a rut.
