As some of you know from reading my journal - we've had lots and lots of rain in my area. I don't really enjoy slogging through the mud every...single...day. But, to every cloud a silver lining and all that.
Today I noticed a couple of chickens standing in the water pecking away. I'm thinking they're confused - they're not water birds - but what do I know? The pic is sideways but it doesn't really matter. Just look at all those tiny black dots. Tadpoles - millions of them. Seriously, lol. I couldn't get a shot of the chickens, but they were standing in the water eating tadpoles!
So I did a quick google search and found out that they are pretty darn nutritious...except, depending on the species, some of them can be toxic (even though boiling them neutralizes any toxicity). In some countries - PEOPLE eat them! ARGH....
Survival food anyone?
