The Meaning of GMO?

Is this seriously what GMO means?? I'm new to all of this and find it somewhat frightening if all of the things I'm reading on this is true.

I will definetely be spending the extra $ to get organic/heirloom/non-GMO (any other suggestions?) seeds. And after looking at food prices and the state of things I'm glad we finally just moved somewhere I can have a big garden and lots of animals. Eeeeshhh!! Ignorance may be bliss, but it's a deadly bliss!!

Yup. They try to hide the truth and say its healthy, just like corn syrup is good for you

Thank you BB!! Have you (or anyone) ever heard or used http://ww.eldoradoheirloomseeds.com? They were another I was thinking of using. Not sure yet. Just trying to get a few good sites, I've found a few from stalking through some of the past threads.

Last year I grew only heirloom tomatoes and was disappointed with the results. I grew huge plants with lots of leaves but few fruit. (And yes, I was out there every day nipping the sprouts from the plants to encourage growth in the right direction). I must admit I've gone back to hybrids this year. My garden area is small and I need to produce as much as I can - I don't have room to grow plants that aren't producing...

I have to say, the last two years have been busts for tomatoes for us because 2 years ago we didn't get any sun until september (it rained literally every day all summer!) and last year my SO decided she didn't like where I had the garden and didn't want me to put it in. Guess who didn't actually get to do a garden last year except for a few pepper and tomato plants in 5 gallon buckets which really didn't do too well. I only put in my favorite sweet 100 tomatoes. I got some, but not 100!

And the roundup resistant weeds are already here. I don't know what the industrial scientists thought would happen- nature takes care of her own.

Yeppers, Kala! While I don't believe GMO is inherently evil, I do want to know what I'm eating. I want to know what they did to the food, and how.... They need a good decade of testing the food to know ANY of the results of what they are doing, but there aren't any studies being actually done. That's my issue with it. We're all test subjects, but not by consent. And they aren't carefully collecting and reviewing any data.

If there are, they will be buried or are already buried. Like the extruded cereal study that killed the rats with obvious neurological symptoms (seizures and violence) that was buried....they obviously expected the study to show that their cereal was wonderfully healthy for rats. There is just too much money being made with GMO's for the companies to be ethical with them. IMO.
