Does anybody else here get into watching TV seasons on DVD?

We have X Files, 24, Dark Angel and Titus to name a few. I think it's a great activity if you're cocooning, staying in to conserve money... Especially if you got a great deal on the season.

We've bought entire seasons for $20 or less.

That's really how we first started getting into the Sopranos, it had been on for a couple of seasons and we didn't have HBO at the time, so we watched a couple of season's worth of shows over about a week. Got us hooked and we ordered HBO;)

We started watching LOST on the Sci-Fi channel, but programming has been rescheduled a few times and we have lost track, and lost interest, in watching the show on tv.

We'll probably rent seasons to find out what happens!

We also have some other series on DVD. I got the first and second Riches (why it didn't catch on, I've no idea, it was brilliant), Coupling, Rising Damp, Kung Fu, quite a few actually. I got the first season of Rescue Me at the local grocery outlet. I never saw the first shows which surely would explain some of the stuff that I had to guess about in the later seasons.

Timely topic. :) Just yesterday I ordered a few from Amazon. Fun ones this time... Perfect Strangers (mostly for my daughter) and the first season of Kids Say the Darndest Things. I was *totally* shocked (pleasantly!) at everything that is available now... nearly everything I looked for was actually there.

I think that's a good idea for a show like Lost. I missed some episodes and lost the details of the back story.

Heroes is another one that I find it hard to just jump into again.

I don’t like to buy those because I don’t like to pay for something I have already watched. I just can’t understand why people buy those DVD from the TV episodes.

Do you not watch a good movie more than once?

For me, it's very similar. If it's a good show, it's worth watching again. We're in the process of watching the entire series of The X Files and that takes a long time. I'd expect we won't do that again for a few years.

For me, it's shows that they won't be putting into reruns. And some things are worth watching more than once. I'm buying things that I haven't seen for 10 or 15 years and they'll never appear on television again.

That's why. ;) Isn't there a series from your childhood that you'd love to see again, or have your kids see?

That's a very good reason to rent the seasons. With everybody's busy schedules, it is hard to sit down and watch a whole show sometimes, or to catch all of the shows in sequence..
