I'm not going to pick them yet. We have a while before we should get a frost. It just is going into the cool gray days.

I was so happy with the plants this year with the tons of tomatoes that set.
Hmm. Maybe I need to scout the stores for clearance on a small portable green house. I have the tomatoes in pots because the back side of the house is the hottest place with the sun reflecting off the siding.
In case you haven't thought of it, be sure to clip off all new flowers and any tiny fruits from now on--then the vines will put all their energy into the full-size fruit :)
I'll keep an eye out for any more blooms. I don't think I've seen any in the last month though. It totally slipped my mind to pick off flowers.
Must be a determinate/bush variety then? Mine are all non-determinate so they just keep going--my daughter clipped flowers yesterday afternoon and there are already a few here and there amongst our plants :)

I know this is old but…..I never let a single tomato go to waste. They stay on the plant until the first frost and then I harvest all the green ones. In my experience, they can sit for months and never ripen if they're truly still green. Nevertheless, I have made some wonderful green tomato salsas and chutneys over the years. And substitute green tomatoes for apples in a pie (think Apple Pie but use tomatoes instead) and no one will be able to tell the difference.

This past year bubbles and I made green tomatoes relish from the blue book. That stuff is outstanding on fresh bread!

We also pickled the smaller ones with peppers.

I would think it would work better to make it out of tomatoes instead of a blue book. :hide
