Well, one of my favorite things to make with my kefir other than smoothies is cheese. Well really just kefir leban or a cream cheese texture. I have accumulated a few quarts of whey. What should I do with it? Do we have a link for whey uses?

Any and all suggestions welcome.

I use mine to make sauerkraut and ferment other veggies. I also soak my horse's oats with it and give it to the other animals.

If you had goats you could soak whole grains for them in it. Or if you had pigs you could feed it to them. ;)

What about your chickens?

I learned the hard way that it has to be diluted about 1:50 in water to make an acidifying food for plants ! I killed five rose bushes.

You can simmer it for several hours to make...um....what's it called....stuff. It will be a carmelized sugary (lactose) spread/cheese. I've never made it as I am lactose intolerant and don't eat sweets much, so it is too much bother and electricity...but maybe one day I'll put a pot on the woodstove in the winter just to see what happens.

Ok so what if I soak whole wheat for my hens? Use the whey to sprout the wheat but not drain it off. That's great for the hens.

BBH how about a link for your Sauerkraut recipe.

No goats, no cows, no pigs!!! Not yet anyways.

Just my dog. I find it hard to believe he would eat it. Maybe I ill put a bit on his kibble to see.

Thanks.

Ldy, that might be helpful. I tore out a wild thorny rose yesterday. Maybe I could put it n the roots to kill them. :p
