Whooo Pig! Our little Potbelly pig has arrived. Earlier than we had planned on though, so for now we have him in an unused 10x10 dog pen. We have a dog house in the pen and have added some hay. We also have him a large, shallow water container that he seems to enjoy. I bought him some pig starter feed, but can anyone tell me how much we should give the little wrinkle ball?

As much as he'll clean up before flies lay eggs in it. :p Looks like there is no grass in that pen, so toss some cut grass/clover in for him, too, and he'll dig up some worms and grubs to keep himself happy. Liquid leftovers are great....have a container on the counter to dump milk from cereal bowls, leftover pasta and veggies, etc, to feed to him. No need to refrigerate this bucket, as they prefer their food a bit soured and off.

Pig is pig. Of course you can eat pot bellied pig! It might be better for roasting whole though. That is why I am asking!

He needs a muddy pot hole to wallow in. Pigs cant sweat and will over heat. They love to play in sprinkler systems. Don't name him if you plan to eat him, else it will be difficult to have him for dinner.

He's either going to be breeding stock, food, or both depending on what size that he eventually attains. Right now we just refer to him as Pig or The Pig. "That'll do Pig, that'll do". :D

Thanks Free for the suggestion of adding some clover and grass for him. He has a shallow water container that he likes to get in, and we'll be piping water with a misting nozzle for him. He also has a fresh water bowl. Hopefully, next month we'll move him to a larger, grassy section, complete with a raised and insulated shelter. Now, to find him a lady friend...
