Holy cow I went to the dentist and I need a root canal and a crown and the bill is going to be 1827.00, my portion with insurance is 812.00 this seems like a HUGE bill for ONE TOOTH!!! :th
I am thinking about just pulling it since that would be 25.00.
Just curious what have you paid or do pay???

I paid close to that for a crown WITHOUT a root canal! Post-insurance. I feel it is very important to keep my teeth...I will skimp on toilet paper and such, but not my teeth.

Wow, maybe I have been in frugal mode too long, I am cringing everytime I think about spending that money.

Oh, trust me, I cringe, too! Then worry so much that I grind my teeth at night and then need another crown!!!!

10 years ago one of mine was $900. I paid out of pocket. I would have just had them pull it but it was too close to the front. I didn't want that CRACKHEAD look :p

I've got really 'soft' teeth, so those are out for me....I get them pulled. I'm not to the 'crackhead' look yet, but expect to have dentures by the time I'm 55 or 60. That price seems awfully steep!

I had a cap done for $145ish. Granted, that's no root canal and not including the perscriptions (hydrocodone and penicillin, two rounds of each). ALL together, it was under $200.

For some reason crowns are very expensive. I had to pay $600 for a crown about 5 years ago. We paid about $900 for a root canal and crown for my husband about 2 years ago. This was after insurance. Everyone I talk to says the same thing.
