Heehee, this is a quick, 17 second video of me at the Old Thresher's Antique Tractor show. Let me tell a quick story about this whole thing.
My DSS is here for a couple weeks before going to Army bootcamp, so we went to the show. He's a big time city kid, but shows some interest in farm stuff. He loves riding horses, which is great! I say this because you'll see him briefly in the video (don't mind his hair, it will be shaved off in due time, HA!)
Anyway, I am obsessed with Belgian draft horses. Any time we go to Old Thresher's I seek out the drafts and become a stalker. This time was no different. We have been looking into draft teams for a long time, and we were lucky enough to have the owner of this team standing with them to answer our questions. And boy did we have a lot! His dad, who is 81, is a crochety yet fun guy whom I instantly got along with. He was wanting me to come to his farm after just an hour of chatting!
Point of this whole story is this, I was allowed to drive the team with a plow. I was also allowed to ride one in a parade!! This oh-so-short video shows me, a complete novice, driving this 3 horse team. They had a problem getting going in the beginning since I had them at a dead stop with the blade still in the ground. I didn't get it locked up and it dropped back down. (not sure that made sense) .....anyway, enjoy the next 17 seconds of my dream come true!!!
