Heehee, this is a quick, 17 second video of me at the Old Thresher's Antique Tractor show. Let me tell a quick story about this whole thing.

My DSS is here for a couple weeks before going to Army bootcamp, so we went to the show. He's a big time city kid, but shows some interest in farm stuff. He loves riding horses, which is great! I say this because you'll see him briefly in the video (don't mind his hair, it will be shaved off in due time, HA!)

Anyway, I am obsessed with Belgian draft horses. Any time we go to Old Thresher's I seek out the drafts and become a stalker. This time was no different. We have been looking into draft teams for a long time, and we were lucky enough to have the owner of this team standing with them to answer our questions. And boy did we have a lot! His dad, who is 81, is a crochety yet fun guy whom I instantly got along with. He was wanting me to come to his farm after just an hour of chatting!

Point of this whole story is this, I was allowed to drive the team with a plow. I was also allowed to ride one in a parade!! This oh-so-short video shows me, a complete novice, driving this 3 horse team. They had a problem getting going in the beginning since I had them at a dead stop with the blade still in the ground. I didn't get it locked up and it dropped back down. (not sure that made sense) .....anyway, enjoy the next 17 seconds of my dream come true!!!

You're right, Free!! LOL He had it all shaved for about a month, then let it grow so he could do the "faux-hawk" thing. I told him the drill instructors would have a hay-day when he first arrives at boot camp! Of course, my MIL is appauled, so I just added to the mayhem by telling her I was going to die it John Deere Green with yellow tips and have it spiked. She almost fainted :th heehee :bun

I DO!!! Its a weekly goal, to see how much I can get her to blush or just freak out. I actually like the hair do, but of course it doesn't comply with her views.....which makes me encourage it even more!!! :plbb

Looks like you had a great time!! Congrats!!

One bit of advice for your son: Tell him to cut that hair BEFORE he leaves for the service. It WILL make his life a lot easier. DAMHIK these things. ;)

Oh Gina you know I was doing all I could do to hold them horses!! LOL

Wildsky, you have GOT to try it, you'd love it!!

SKR8PN, I said something to that effect to him, and he "says" he's going to have it shave before he goes.....we'll see!

I tell ya folks, that plowing is harder than they make it look. So much mental and physical involved...keeping the team even, staying in the furrow, watching where you're going, depth, how tired the horses are, pulling too slow or too fast....whew!!! But wow was it soooo worth the work!!!! My dream come true!!!
