Can I use some free straw that has molded a bit for anything? I was thinking of burning it and putting it in the garden soil.....something close to an attempt at biochar. I certainly won't feed it to anything and I know that even using it as bedding would be bad so can I do anything with it?

Cool bench....I'd wait until it dries to sit on it, though! :p

Burning it would work, or just compost it, if you have a good-size compost pile. It will be good for your pile. Mix it in a bit. Wear a mask if you do, don't breathe in the mold spores.

I throw any wet straw I have in the hog pen. They smash it into the mud....and I have to say..I am eyeing that "mud" for the garden next year! ;)

Use to mulch things in your garden next year or dig it in this fall.

I'd use it for mulch! My strawberries are needing some mulch to help overwinter. ;)

After I mulched the garden, I'd throw the rest in the chicken pen for them to play in. I put an intact square bale in there a couple of years ago, they had a blast! Tore it to shreds and love scratching around in it for months until it finally turned to dust.

Till it into the garden and let it break down over winter. Your garden will love you for it.
