mustard greens = turnips?

we saved seeds from our mustard greens last year. they were allowed to go to seed in the garden as well.

more plants have popped up. we've been using them the same as greens but I pulled one for the chickens and noticed a big root tuber. o cut it opened and smelled it and then ate some and decided it was indeed a white turnip, although a spicy one.

is it possible my greens crossed with my purple tops? we worked hard and saved alot of seeds....I wonder if they are turnips now?

kinda.....but they kinda look like turnips too.

Watch on saving seed, broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, collard greens, kale, and turnips are all brassicas and will cross pollinate.

Mmmm Mmmm that's some good eating right there. I like collar greens a little better though but either or with sliced fatback, lip smacking good.

Now you take those greens, fatback and my sport pepper vinegar and your talking flavor explosion of Mmmm Mmmm so good... it'll make you want to smack your momma.
