My volly work was near non existent this year too. Its given me a good chance to shrink my world, that was really needed. I doubt I will ever go back to the level that I was at before, burn out was an understatement. I will probably just stick to my congregation duties from now on. I don't feel...

    Coronavirus Concern Up

Flu rates were way down over winter for us too. We didn't have masks - lockdown worked and I personally loved it too! People are all going back into offices now but I truly hope there will be more remote working options open to people with disabilities as its proven to be so easily implemented now.

    Daisy - Dawdling towards Delicious

The birds love my garden, and I do love them, when they stick to the natives that I need help clipping and not the apple trees! I have put the nets up now, and so far so good, they havent found a way in but still stick around :) I dont really enjoy photography which is a shame as there are so...

    Making Cheese

I did some net searching and found a sheep dairy near by to me too! Never knew it existed, but it looks like such a great idea, especially with how popular cheese is right now. I am going to look in the shop and see if they stock the cheese or milk so I can try it out. Otherwise I might order it...

    Making Cheese

I had my first try at making cream cheese out of cows milk the other day. I was surprised at how easy it was and how great it turned out. I would love to get goats again, but I very much doubt the shire would permit it on a town block... a sheep on the other hand, might get a pass as it is a...

What did you do in the garden today?

I have been working on the hedges this week. They have grown very fast this year! That later rain (and the duck poop) probably caused that. So I have just been doing a little bit each day as I dont want to be totally wiped out if I took the lot on all at once. I have to do a little trimming...

    Seed catalogs

I have never seen or received them, but I am sure they would exist here... Now off to google some local places so I can get on mailing lists!

    SS cafe

I am so pleased with the new managers of the general store :) I got my first, very small, food order yesterday. It was reasonably priced and they were able to get everything fresh on my list! The last owners were a lovely old couple, but priced food at triple the cost of elsewhere, and rarely...

    Coronavirus Concern Up

QR check ins are required from today in my state. People are encouraged to download the covid tracking app and are required to use it for access to pubs, clubs, gyms, cafes, restaurants, churches etc. Takeaway and grocery stores are exempt. I think the local pub will have to explain this many...

    SS cafe

I took the buns litter box out to toss on the garden and clean. When I came back in they were positioned much like that cat, in the spot where the litter box goes. They were much too cute to disturb. Google weather and weather aps are such liars. They said it was a top of 28C here today, Well...

Habit changes for reducing electricity use

Western Australia. We are heading into summer now, so that's why it is on my mind. There are also personal habits that I am in because of the climate conditions. They probably don't significantly impact the electricity bill and are as much out of ease as they are frugal. Things like, washing my...

Habit changes for reducing electricity use

It is interesting to observe the different cultures, and a big reason that I like to come here - as there are many things you guys have done for generations (ie canning) that arnt wide spread here. By the same token, I forget that there are things not done over there that have been drilled into...

Habit changes for reducing electricity use

Haha thats how I do laundry too... I have a dryer machine (30+ years old) but it is very, very rarely used. I have put it on about 3 times in 4 years. It is certainly an energy suck. Of course, my climate is suited to drying clothes outside. Most people do here. I started using fabric softener...
