Purty and it taste good but it's syrupy. Oh well, it'll get eaten anyway. I'm going to be doing watermelon rind pickles probably tonight. Now those I know we'll love!
Yum, I can't wait for pears to come in and make some of this stuff. It sounds unbelievably amazing. I would imagine it would make at least a canner full. Well maybe if doubled or tripled.
I'm jealous. I would die of starvation if I had to live on my what my garden produces. A handful of tomatoes and peppers every day or so, so far. I think I might have a few beans to pick but not enough for a mess.
Those pickles are gorgeous. I've wanted to try my hand at brined pickles sometime. Here is pictures of some of my watermelon jelly. It didn't set up much. My son will still love it on pancakes or ice cream.
I used Certo for the batch pictured and did a few freezer jars using Ball Instant...
I wish I had room for okra when I planted it, it was a red hybrid of some kind. It grew like seven or eight foot tall and the pods were tender even when long. I want to say maybe 'Cajun' something another but really it's been probably 20 years so I can't remember. Daddy always grew Clemson...
I didn't do anything today but last night I did climb over the jumbled, jungle of weeds and pick some tomatoes and peppers. I should have a few beans any day now and crookneck squash.
My MIL always canned okra and this was the best okra after she canned it. She did her summer squash the same way. It is not USDA safe recommendations though. Frozen could never hold a candle to the fresh taste of hers.
@TexasLisa that sounds like the recipe I used but I just threw it all into the Ninja blender. Very easy. I heated my little green skillet up, rubbed a stick of butter in it and poured in some batter and then just moved the skillet around, tilting it until it covered the bottom in a thin layer...
Marshmallow tea sounds promising but YUCK on the turpentine. I once knew someone that would put kerosene in a spoonful of sugar and give to her kids for pinworms. I couldn't understand why Mama wouldn't let me have any when all her kids were lined up for it. I think I was 5 at the time.
I watch Living on a Dime on YouTube and Tawra was making crepes. It looked easy and I wanted to make dessert I wouldn't have to bake so I decided to give it a go.
It went really quick and finally a purpose for that little green skillet DH insisted I buy. I used a strawberry sauce and chocolate...
We are going to run up to Branson in a few weeks for a few days. I haven't been there since 1985. Long before my young kids were even alive. They are really excited at the prospect.
