I did a little canning this weekend (my tomato jam), and I noticed that all of the jars have a whitish film on them. We have pretty hard water, so I am guessing that this is some kind of mineral deposit. Is there any way to prevent this from happenning?
I have also heard this. A glass of red wine (diluted if you prefer) is supposed to stimulate appetite. Peppermint is also an appetite stimulant, so you could try drinking peppermint tea.
So, I am currently overrun with yellow pear tomatoes, which is good and bad. Good because it's food for us, but bad because I have so many I'm not sure what to do with them. I am thinking about trying this recipe for jam. It is supposed to be good on crackers and bagels, and I'm sure I could...
Thanks for the recipe. I love beans! I did try making refried beans once, but they were very dry. But, now I know to add some of the bean broth to moisten it up, so I'm going to try it again. My black beans are just about ready to be picked, and I'm really looking forward to eating fresh...
Thank you! This sounds yummy.
You know, at my physical on Monday, my doctor told me that I lost 15 lbs. since last year. But if you all keep posting these good recipes, I don't know... :gig
I would love to get jam for Christmas. We can all kinds of stuff for Christmas presents too. I mean, who doesn't like food? We canned jelly and apple butter, spaghetti sauce, relish, even ketchup. We make cookies and soap too, it goes over really well. I think people will appreciate your gift.
