Thanks guys...this is getting real old. :P I called yesterday and the dr. office said their computers crashed Tuesday morning and didn't get up and running again until Wednesday morning so they couldn't fax anything in or do any correspondence with the MRi people until yesterday and they said...
Okay....sorry I haven't been updating much but I've been down with my back injury again.
We are trying to make a split from our remaining hive. My strong hive died from starvation because I didn't know that I should have been feeding them through the warmer weather. So I am going to use the...
We kind of took a break from anything organized over the summer...more unschooling and learning about stuff as it came. We read a lot over the summer and still go to the library every week and tend to be outside more so we take nature walks and observe and talk about stuff a lot. Rainy days we...
Well, I haven't been on much cause my back went out again. I finally decided to stop being stubborn and went to the doctor Monday and got another round of steroids and stronger pain pills. She has ordered me to get an MRI and suspects nerve damage or disc damage. So, I've been really slowly...
I dunno...humidity is the issue. On warmer days you can definitely feel a difference.
Bad news...I found 3 dead kits today. The 5 that were alive were much more vigorous and bigger so I'm just guessing that maybe the smaller 3 weren't getting enough food from mama or got squished or something...
well...I vote nigis but I'm biased. :D They don't need as high a fence either and are pretty easy to handle by yourself...like a lab. I can get one of my girls in the back of my SUV in a big dog crate with a piece of 2x12 for a ramp. They are fun to watch at kidding time too cause you never know...
I'm sure it has some heat source...but during the warmer days we've been having there is a definite difference in the inside temps. It is a solid white bubble and there is always some sort of fan going that either keeps the bubble full or provides heat or both. I would love to have a sunroom...
I'm hoping to go today so I'll see if I can get pics. It's pretty cool. We have a waterslide in the deeper end of the pool and most of the time they keep it turned on so the kids can play. It's pretty neat and I think it is held up by forced air or something...it's a huge bubble. They have to...
We have a dome over the pool...it's heated to 85 degrees so I can swim WHILE it's snowing :D They take 2 weeks every May and every September to construct and deconstruct it. It can get cold, i'm not gonna lie, but most of the time it's okay.
No, I took a frame to the meeting the other week and two of the "old timers" determined that it was starvation. It was my stronger hive, they had a lot more bees and with the mild winter just burned through all the pollen and honey in the hive. I fed too little too late. No one told me to feed...
I'm hoping the new dark brahma will take the hint and hatch me out some ducklings! My runner hens are last year's babies so I don't know if they will go broody or not. The last runners I had went broody two years in a row but runners are unpredictable. I may start leaving some in the runner...
me too!!! I laughed yesterday and told my neighbor that I had piled up the weeks eggs in there in the hopes that someone, anyone would look in there and go "hey, there's all these eggs in here....I should sit on these" Then today she sits!!!! I couldn't believe it....
Thanks guys, the babies are great! We have been getting prepped for Tyler's sleepover so I haven't been on much. It was last night and let me tell you, 5 children all at once was crazy. We had a 7 yr old, a 6 yr old, a 5 yr old, a 4 yr old and a 3 yr old. I'm exhausted today.
I had to get my...
I put the bucks back in with sweet pea and ginger today and peeked at the babies and there is a little gray one in there too so she has at least 7!!!!:weee
:bun :bun :bun :bun :bun :bun
I've got babies!!!!! I went out this morning and my white doe had had her babies overnight!!!! I pushed the fur back with a stick and she has at least 3 solid black and 3 pink...there could be more but I won't know for a little while. I could count at least 6...
We have a lady that feeds her show dogs raw only. She has a deal with a local processor that does beef to get the organ meat for her dogs. We also give her all our deer and chicken carcasses.
Rabbit meat would be fine for them. You may want to switch them to a feed that is no wheat, corn or...
yesterday was Tyler's 7th birthday and while it did not go as planned it was still a lovely day. He is in a MOOD today and I'm ready to lock him in his room. It is also pouring rain so going out is not an option.
I don't remember if I posted here or not but I lost a beehive last week. I...
