Depending how you plan to store the foods there are a couple options. I follow the store what you eat and eat what you store motto.
I buy food grade 5 gallon buckets from Home Depot. I tried getting them for free or discounted form my local grocery and doughnut shop but they never came...
I save those as well. Mainly I store canning rings and flats in them, feed scoops, garden stuff. I always question the seal of the lid so I don't use them for food.

Regardless of the "growing pains" there is still a lot of valuable information on this site.
As for food storage I go with the adage "store what you eat and eat what you store" But my stuff is not for bugging out. Its definitely not mobile.

I have a friend who bought one for 99 bucks at the local sporting goods store. I thought about buying one when they came around again. The dang thing was so long and heavy I could barley lift it.
We did pick up ammo for him once. It was over a buck a round at our local gun show. Not sure...
I usee ice cube tray method as well. Sweet potatoes, butternut squash roasted pureed and avocados. After that I say soft pureed table foods one at a time. Be sure to space them out so you can pay attention to your new babies reaction. Gas, allergies etc...

So had to check this out for myself. I happened to have the battery. I popped the top and it does not contain AA. It has 4 large tall batteries about the diameter of a C. Would have been cool if it was true. I guess I should have checked Snoops before I cracked the top off.

Wow, I was surprised to get a update on this thread. It's been a while. We did go for another family visit in June. Spent some time looking at properties. One did fit the bill. 40 acres, modular home, two barns, stream, two wells just beautiful!! Same road as my Aunt but about two miles...

One thing about the water though. It boils way hotter than you would ever need it. Mine comes from the tap almost hot enough. Be careful you don't cook the skin.
When dunking just hang on to the feet. If your wearing those fashionable yellow gloves you should be able to handle...
