Wow, that's a bummer. I have some old girls that need a bit of TLC as well. Maybe I'll stop in an follow along.
Good to see you.

Be there's 21 pages, how will I ever catch up?
I add my new birds to the existing flock in the evening as well. I usually put them directly on the roost after every one is up for the night. Makes the morning after easier.
good luck,

I use basically the same method. No stir. I have a huge mother now. I think it had an affair with my kombucha. :lau I usually just use a gallon glass jar. I put a cloth napkin over the top with a rubber band. Any apples that don't get eaten go in a pile. When I have enough they get...
We live near orchards so a big rat will come along now and then. Especially if we leave the garage door open. We don't like to use poison because they will eat it then go off and die in a corner somewhere.
We have bought some very large traps from home depot. They are plastic, reusable and...
dang FC, get a hobby. :gig
You worked so long and hard then you were so happy to unload all of the goats and hogs. Why do you want to tie yourself down again?
Is it boredom or the empty barns that bother you more?
What about horses for you and Nicole? Have you thought about that? :idunno

Is this an early frost for you? Sounds like your greenhouse is working out great. Crazy to think fall is upon us already. Well at least for most folks. Hopefully we will escape the Indian Summer here. We sometimes hit 110 in mid to late Sept.

I think that is a great way to upcycle the old trailer. Very mobile if you keep the tires up. Just think if the water lines were still working you could hook up to a hose and use a couple self waterers.
Ok when I get my farm I'm building one.
:D
Congrats on all your new arrivals!!! :thumbsup
I have several hatch in just a matter of a couple hours. Once they start pipping they usually keep at it. Sometimes a prolonged hatch will indicate the health of the bird. Not so good. Are you pulling the chicks or letting momma hen raise them...
I used to make something similar when I was trying to be low carb. I used Cream cheese instead of peanut butter. Made a nice fluffy desert. Only a couple bites and the cravings were quenched.

That's the same problem I have with gophers here. They come in from below and eat everything under ground. With my green beans they slowly pull the whole bush under. So frustrating.
I hope you can get rid of him soon.

Anything I can is usually soggy. Cant help you there.

Yesterday I did 10- more quarts of spaghetti sauce. Today I found a bunch of stew beef on sale at the grocery store. I have 7 quarts in the pressure canner.

I know there is a book at my public library. I don't remember the name. They wouldn't let me check it out because its considered reference material. It was very expensive to buy.
I went in to look it over but all the jars and dates were a bit overwhelming.
So what type of jars do you...
http://planthardiness.ars.usda.gov/PHZMWeb/ Your zone basically help determine planting times, thaw & freeze. Best types of plants to plant for your area etc.
I know there are some folks around her in your area. Maybe they will chime in on types of plants.
Maybe drip lines, soaker hose...
I agree with the simple things. Mind if I ask how large the garden is and what zone you are in? How much time do you have for this garden? Will you be picking daily? How do yo plan to irrigate?
Pole beans, zucchini, cucumbers, carrots, potatoes, tomatoes, the basics come to mind first.

Not sure if there commercial. But there not the normal 4 x 9. Really long. I will have to measure.
So my first batch is finished. 4 pints of very clear pretty lard. The cracklings are browned and there is about a pint of darker oil. I guess that would be perfect for frying hash browns...
