Thanks for the compliments- my dd loves her freckles too!
Sparks, yep, too many chickens. I live in the city and have a special permit for, uh, 3.
I've got boysenberries on a trellis, but they'd probably do just as well on chain link, though I think you'd have to wind the branches through or tie them up yourself.
Well now I feel stupid. I rushed out and bought cute baby chicks when I probably shouldn't have. I did more research on soft shell eggs and read that some ACV in their water could help. It did- immediately! That chicken has layed 3 good eggs in a week and no soft shells. She is still not a great...
My son made $4.25 today! I really needed some garden space and my cilantro had taken over. After taking all I wanted for drying, we bundled up a bunch and he went door to door selling "organic, locally grown" cilantro and rosemary. He even told people what dishes were good to make with the...
You have perfect timing! I need to rip out a big nasturtium plant and didn't want it to go to waste. I have several other plants, they reseed themselves beautifully.
Thanks!
I have a stupid chicken. Unfortunately, she is my dd's pet, otherwise I'd trade her in. She is a silkie and almost always lays splat eggs. That's what we call them. The shell is so soft, it splats everywhere in the nest box. Every once in a while she'll lay one hard enough to keep. She is 2...
I know why. Because when you bottle tomatoes in their own juice, you smash as many tomatoes into a bottle as possible. You don't put in tomatoes and then pour juice over them. As you are filling the jar with tomatoes, you press them down and they make their own juice. You keep adding more until...
Finally got out to the community garden yesterday. Whoops. Harvested the remaining 3 cauliflowers which weighed a total of 13 lbs. There was too much broccoli to pick and the bok choy were gigantic. I left them there. One monster at a time.
Good news (well, lots of veggies really are good news...

Found a ton of good info here. It says to not expect fruit until 3-4 years after planting a tree from a nursery. I guess mine is still in that time frame. Mine is a Holiday, a dwarf variety.
You know what I've never had? Lamb. I saw a recipe for it yesterday and it looked so good, but I have never even seen it in the grocery stores. Where do people get it?
As for weird things, I've had alligator.
humph. I'd like to know how to get my outside avocado tree to bear fruit. I'm thinking its about 5 years old now. It is covered in flower buds. Two years ago I got one huge, delicious fruit off it. Nothing since. If you find out what to do, let me know.
Can't you grow trees like cherry or...
We've never paid to watch tv except when we were first married and it was part of our condos association dues.
You'll save so much money! Some stations will air episodes of current tv shows the day after they air on tv, but we don't watch very much regular tv, so I'm not an expert. We mostly...
No one has mentioned building robots! lol. that's what kept my son busy all day yesterday. He took a whole bunch of boxes/tubes out of the recycle bin and made a cute little robot and attached it to the base of his remote-control car. I was saving them for a different school project, but oh well.
I've seen a couple of tiny house clips lately. Makes my "cottage" at my parent's place seen absolutely luxurious with 3 separate rooms!
Speaking of which- where was the bathroom for that house?
