When we had our shetland lamb processed we ended up with 49lbs of meat, including soup/dog bones. I cooked up 6 chops, and each one of them had about 1 bite of meat, and lots of fat and bones. So overall, it wasn't that much meat.
If your lambs are a meat breed, you'll probably get more meat...
I have a Dorper, and I can tell you their 'wool' is pretty short, and has lots of rough hairs mixed in. My Dorper's hair is only about an inch long, and she's shedding it like crazy. If I can gather enough I plan on using it as a mulch.
I don't know about Texel, it might make it...
I was on the pill and then the patch for the first few years I was married, it was awful. I felt terrible most of the time, I gained a lot of weight, and had really, really bad PMS.
Now I have an IUD. Like Mackay said, they do hurt like he!! at first, and for about the first year, but after...
Thanks Pat, that's all helpful. I brushed the wax on my cheeses last summer, and they were gappy and chunky. I thought it was just me.
Edited for mis-spelling.
As a Barista in my training they taught us that the longer a bean is roasted the less caffeine it contains, but the higher the acid. 'White (mostly raw or lightly roasted) coffee' has higher levels of caffeine, but less acid.
It is kind of a specialty thing, but if you really need your coffee...
Grilled green beans with compound butter. I eat about a quart of green beans a day during summer.
Grilled asparagus, kale sauteed with sausage and leeks........ my tummy is growling.
I released my queen today, it went ok. I had to use tiny pliers to get the cork out, and I was afraid with my clumsy fingers I would get her leg or something, but I didn't. I did have to brush off attendant bees several times.
I looked at one of the frames, and they are starting to draw comb...
Are you saying I should put the marshmallow in the hole to the queen cage at this point? It's been 3 full days, and I thought it might be ok to let her out now?
Bee - the queen introduction sheet said the queen cage has a solid wood plug. You can either take it out and put in a mini marshmallow and let the bees chew it out, you can take the plug out right away, or you can do what I did and put the whole cage in the hive, and go back in 3-5 days and take...
Thanks for the encouragement everyone. I knew there was a huge amount I didn't know, and a huge gap between 'researched' knowledge and 'hands on' knowledge, but I just realized how big that gap really is.
B Birds - I would love to see your record templates. I keep pretty through informal...
I went and picked up my package of bees on friday afternoon. We were forecast to have rain and thunderstorms all day, which didn't happen, it was rainy in the morning, then nice all afternoon.
When I got home (3 hour drive) I figured I would hive them on friday evening, since if we don't have...
Bee, are you talking about Drapers Super Bee? That's where I ordered my package from, except they are local to me! :) I'm going to pick them up this Friday. And a lamb too, so I'll be driving for 2 1/2 hours in a tiny car with a lamb and 3lbs of bees. Wish me luck!

That's all great info you guys. Now you just need to go over to the rabbit thread and post feeding info over there. I hate buying rabbit pellets, but all the reference books I have read say ONLY FEED PELLETS!
Free, do you keep a constant supply of grain sprouting, or can you, say, sprout...
Requiem for Detroit was interesting. I watched all the segments, and even while they were driving by all the ruins I was thinking "Hmm, I'll bet I could grow food in those yards, and I'll bet I could get lots of free building materials for a chicken coop." And then in the end they said how urban...
