Here in Washington State Kroger's owns QFC and Fred Meyer. I was just at one of the stores and noticed the sale on canning jars/lids because there was this lady there who was taking tons of them off the shelf. HOARDER!!! LOL I was actually wondering if she was a member of this forum. :lau...
Let me see if I can pull up a picture . . .
Meanwhile, hee hee OFG, I thought you would be proud, while I was out there chasing the eagle! As it isn't wood heating season, I didn't have an axe handy, just the white PVC pipe that we use as our duck herding pole. It is probably 8 feet or so...
Reviving this thread because we got a Great Pyrenees pup from our neighbor this winter and she (my neighbor) has new pups again (we live in Western Washington and if anyone is interested in pups they can pm me).
I just want to say that we are really impressed with our Great Pyrenees. We have...
FF -- You might consider letting the dry goods cool completely before packing them in ziplock bags. Just to lower the chances of plastic chemicals leaching into the food. If you turned the oven off and let the food cool in the oven then it should still be very sterile until you open the oven...
Make a paste of baking soda and water and dab it on. It may be a little late, but that usually gets the poison out, if there is any, or it will at least help it to heal and not get infected. I do that with all bites of unknown origin. Usually the itching goes away quickly. It also works...
ETA: Sorry I was going to say to this that we have always had a global economy. It just used to be spices mostly that were traded by way of sailing ships . . . .
:welcome
I'm enjoying your journal. Glad you decided to join the forum. :)
When I make jam I do a test with a spoon to see if the jam will jell once it cools. You are supposed to dip the spoon in the jam and let it drip off with the spoon tilted to one side and see if you get a double drip...
I think a lot of us feel the same.
But I am going to guess that most of us have gone through phases where we have felt like we needed to get out and travel or get out and do something different too.
I don't know, but maybe FarmerChick just is wondering if she is the only one who feels like...
I wouldn't call her post offensive. I think she is just expressing a different perspective.
My husband and I have spent time traveling and we used to eat out ALL the time at nice restaurants, but our interests and priorities have changed. I only miss long backpacking trips in the mountains...
LOL Well, misery loves company, huh?
My son's sleep cycle is totally opposite of mine right now. He naps when I am wide awake, I need to nap when he is wide awake. Also he doesn't go to sleep until 11, if we are lucky, and still manages to wake up at 7 or 8 in the morning. I am lucky if I...
I also felt the biological urge to have a kid and told my husband if we were going to have one that we should do it before I was 30, otherwise I didn't want kids, because of the increased chances of something going wrong. My husband on the other hand felt more interested in adopting if we...
Well, I prefer real maple syrup, but we tend to use blackberry syrup more often because the blackberries are free around here (invasive weeds). I have also made the faux maple syrup (brown sugar, butter, maple flavoring), but I favor the real maple syrup because I think it is healthier.
Yes, number 3 has a funny shape for an alder, so I wasn't sure, but the leaves really look like alder to me. It could be some sort of ornamental I guess, but none come to mind that look like that.
Seems like mullein leaves are fuzzier and more in a tight rosette at the base than what you had...
Savingdogs:
To the best of my knowledge (and it can be hard with just a photo)
#2, #9, and #10 all look like foxglove to me
#3 looks like alder, hard to say for sure
#4 trillium (can I have one please?)
#5 looks kind of like #6, hard to say from the photo
#6 sow thistle -- if so it is...
