I have only seen watering spikes at gardener's supply company. Anyone know of a less expensive source for these? I haven't seen them in home and garden centers where I live.
*edit* nevermind, I'll do this instead. :D

Garden is winding down. I have powdery mildew all over my pumpkins and zucchinis. Pumpkins weren't very productive. I got 3 pumpkins on 3 plants. Meh. I have to get my soil tested. Tomato plants have turned mostly yellow. My second planting of peas and beans are progressing nicely, but I...
I know how to get sharpie off plastic, Concentrated dish detergent rubbed on it with a little baking soda for abrasive may work. If that doesn't work, I have used an oil like baby oil. It dissolved it instantly. But then you'll have a baby oil stain. If you know how to get that out, give it...
Right now we have a handheld with a hose (that is normally advertised for the elderly or people with physical issues). It has a few different stream choices, and one where you set it to trickle so it keeps the water temperature, but doesn't spray all over the shower (if you're sitting down on...
That's a great little gadget! I sure could have used that while I was camping a lot in my twenties...
I'm thinking of hooking up a smaller tank to the gutter just so that it would heat faster than the big tank.
Here is the water tank with solar panel and battery setup for the hose pump. I set the hose nozzle to "shower" and it's the same water pressure as any outdoor spigot. Quite informal, But it works very well.
Forgot to talk about the garden. Not that it's doing much, but I have replanted my peas and bush beans. I added a second crop of lettuce, radishes, and scallions. Pumpkins are doing well. Cucumbers are late, but doing ok. Zucchini plants have slowed down but are still producing.
I wonder...
Well. Lots happened. I visited my sister for a week, came back, painted the inside of the coop. Washed all windows inside and out. Well went dry 1 hour before my son's birthday party. DH has been filling the well with a 300 gallon tank from the concrete plant. It's potable water, but...
We had to go with Hughesnet. It's expensive, but we run a business out of our home, out where no wires run. We had a little verizon thing that plugged into the side of the laptop for a while, but even verizon has spotty coverage here. We ended up having to switch to At&T for our cell service...
I agree with your POV. I know that there are some debates right now over collecting water from residential roofs in the dryer states (maybe Nevada and/or Arizona?). I collect rain from my gutters for 2 300 gallon ag tanks to water the garden and wash if the well goes dry. I clicked the...
Just read the other article. It's his property. I guess any "landscaping" on that scale is subject to permitting. The "publically owned resource" bit is interesting though.
How do you make slumgullion? I've never heard this word before, and it has some interesting definitions. Recipe search makes it look similar to what we adirondackers call goulash, which isn't really goulash. It's tomato macaroni beef of sorts.
Yes, please do tell. I heard from the Cornell Extension horticulturist that it doesn't overwinter in the soil in my county as well. I just don't know why.
Well, that works both ways. Because of people gawkng at my cart items... I uh... Shall we say... That I have to hide the feminine hygiene products and the family planning items under the other stuff. Yes, I'm 40 and still shy about that kind of stuff. :P
I have looked in other people's carts...
I haven't had blight issues in a few years. I don't grow potatoes, so I Know I'm not contracting it that way. I live a mile from any other human, so I must be getting it from the wind, or it is being spread from a wild nightshade variety, or I'm bringing it in somehow. I bagged every plant...
