I've heard they can breed as young as 2 months :ep Yay for your baby buns!! :bun My two refused to use the nest boxes and had kits on the wire in the middle of the night. Lost them all, 15 babies. :hit

Anyone playing an April Fools Day prank or got had?

These are great! Ok, so no good recent ones, but the best one I ever did was on my boss a couple years ago. A coworker and I programmed boss's computer to whisper stuff to him all day, at random times. "Call Wanda" (wife's name) "Hey... what's that?" "Share that banana?" because he always has...

    asparagus

Oooh, I do! Got to ditto the fresh asparagus, OMG yum. Mine is coming up well right now and I've had to restrain myself from nibbling it. (Waiting on it to get established) 2 ways, 1 for cold, wet, clay type soils. The other for decent dirt. 1. For clay, layer a little bit of compost, potting...

For Trade - Working Mac G4 (Tower Only)

It has ooooold version of photoshop (still functional!), Pagemaker (layout software, old version of InDesign) plus a crap ton of wallpaper type images & clipart. I was hooked up with a nice laptop at work, so I don't need this one anymore. PM if you are interested and I'll get more details to...

    Bubblingbrooks Journey - Salut!

Another vote for calling. Best friend's dad had almost the same experience (kidneys shutting down, completely unresponsive after a surgery) and he heard all of his children & grandchildren around him talking about old times & praying for him. :hugs :hugs :hugs Praying for you guys.

Perplexing Question for Chicken Owners (Need an Opinion)

A few of my chickens would often range as far as the other side of the ballfield next to my house. We're talking 600 yards or more. I would regularly have to go rescue one or two that got trapped in the 4' fencing around each individual field. Got the heifers somewhat confined now, cause the...

Darn, I just divided mine last night and threw the older ones into the compost. A couple more weeks and I should have new baby scobys if anyone still wants one. Mmmm hot algae tea sounds... Disgusting!

    Free's kidding journal 2011: Plum's death wish p 42

Wow, poor Plum! Glad she's safe. My mom would call me, but I doubt anyone else would bother to get my girls safe. Not that they'd let anyone get near them, but mom would at least run them home. Thank goodness I'm pretty far from the road. One would hope that Ginger would continue to not tolerate...

Oops, out of stuff to wash udders, what else can I use before milking?

Soapy water should do just fine. Dry her well to prevent dripping, too. The udder wash is to prevent anything icky from falling into your milk or contaminating the stream, and from dripping down to the tip & infiltrating the orifice while its open for milking. The touch of bleach just does a...

    baking soda for clean hair?

I love what baking soda & acv have done to my hair. I no longer have to wash my hair every single day, unless a chicken poops on my head :P My hair used to be extremely oily at the scalp and needed washing at the very minimum every other day, and it looked terrible the second day. Now I can go...

    Making Goat Milk Yogurt

Tshirt material works perfect for straining yogurt to make it thicker or to save the whey. So do my favorite walmart specials, bar moppers. Huge washclothes, not stretchy and extra fine weave that's easy to scrape yogurt off with a spoon.

    Making Goat Milk Yogurt

It IS easy. Add the culture, keep it warm (100-110ish) til its done. The methods vary from person to person, but mostly they work. Fresh goat's milk makes the thickest, richest, tangiest yogurt.

My poor goat Dixie! Dixie the one eyed...? :(

Thanks! She's holding it a bit more open now and the white has retracted a bit more. It is looking better already, although she is still a bit skittish on that side. The vet sold me a container of terramycin powder for eye and ear infections. Which struck me as weird, eye powder... I gave her a...
