Food Prices, Shortages & Inflation - The Trash Index

Here's a some charts from the site mongabay.com showing commodity increases over the last ten years. Some may say that wages have increased over the time period of the charts, but not over the last three years, and that's where some of the charts are starting to look parabolic. There have been...

Food Storage Site ( Changed to better one with Specials !!!!)

I too have ordered from Emergency Essentials and have found their products to be quite good. They were also very helpful and pleasant. I've also ordered from Sam's, and had it delivered to the store, when we are already making a trip into town. There are a lot of good suppliers out there. The...

Food Prices, Shortages & Inflation - The Trash Index

In the words of Waylon Jennings: "I've always been crazy but it's kept me from going insane Nobody knows if it's something to bless or to blame So far I ain't found a rhyme or a reason to change I've always been crazy but it's kept me from going insane" I resemble that remark.

    What's your fav. deer rifle?

Yep, it's hard to beat the good old 30-30. For over 100 years, the 30-30 has been knockin' 'em dead.

    How's your harvest coming?

We just put up our first garlic harvest. Not too great, just 1 3/4 pounds with a lot of small ones. We planted way to late, but at least we know better for the next harvest.

    Butcher School???

Great suggestion. Even offering to provide free part time labor in exchange for learning at a local butcher shop, might be worth it. I would think that this would be an excellent skill to have, for earning as well as bartering.

Is Irene New York City's "Katrina"

While it is true that it may not be any comfort to some, the majority of people do live within the coast, and thus hopefully less danger to the greater population. That was my only intent. Anyone on the barrier islands and those that would end up on the east side of the storm should definitely...

Food Prices, Shortages & Inflation - The Trash Index

Actually, I believe the opposite is true. I have not seen where food is subsidized to make it lower. The government pays farmers NOT to grow some foods, so that the prices WILL NOT be lower. They were originally intended to subsidize small farmers' income during periods of low prices, and to...

Is Irene New York City's "Katrina"

On the bright side, if the storm hugs the coast, most of the tornadoes generated should be in the northeast quadrant and offshore. :fl

Is Irene New York City's "Katrina"

I'd give that a definite maybe. From what I've seen of the forecasts, it looks like it may be moving too fast by the time it gets to that area to push as much of a storm surge. At least I hope so.
