It's scary is what it is. How many of us could fight this? How many of us have the money to hire lawyers?

I think they're getting them on code violations, which are pretty obvious when you look at their places. If there were no obvious code violations, there would be no issue.

The requirement to hook up to the electric grid is total bunk though and should be fought, and people really need to know their rights when it comes to trespassing and warrants.

There must be more to this than what is contained in that article. There are plenty of folks who can't get grid power to their house. Is the "government" going to provide that to them in order to "bring them into compliance?" I think not. This sounds like some hype. The article is not telling all the sides of the issue. Perhaps we could have a perspective from the county to explain their "position". Until then, I'd say "horsehockey!" :bun

From the videos it's obvious that the county does not care to explain their position. It's a typical county government land grab. The residents be damned. This is exactly why I think that all government MUST be downsized. I think that all taxes for these government bureaus, teams, departments, etc. should be voted out.

These land and home owners will be forced to give up their property and will be forced to move out. This has been happening over and over again all over the country for many years.

This article is categorized incorrectly. Living off the grid is not the CAUSE of these people's problems.

It's sad to see people being run off their land in such an ugly way. But if I were found to be violating codes in Rochester, MN, the city has enforcement rights and it would end badly for me.

The take-home for me is that being part of your community is important, even if you don't think of yourself as the type to attend meetings and participate in government.

Antelope Valley is the area that LA illegally stole water from several years ago. It used to be a lot greener than it is now. I suspect this is being done to run off the last of the residents in order to prevent any future lawsuits about the water issue.
