Yes .. your tomatoes were planted when our ground was still wanting to freeze - then you get a warm up to activate growth and all we got was tons of COLD rain.

I was beginning to think we would have no tomatoes!. :he

I agree the information super highway is dangerous. I love the instant gratification of information on ANYTHING I need. But on the other hand does it need to be that way? I talk to my Mom two hours away as much as several times a day. I could not imagine leaving home and never talking to her again or asking for advice on this and that.

I did not know there was a little house movie. I will have to find it to show my kids.

But I now under stand the multi generational family homes. Kinda nice just to keep everyone together. Such a wealth of experience and knowledge. I was reading somewhere about how this is a big trend again. With Grand parents helping to raise the kids while adults are working. Anyways that another topic....

I envy your tomatoes.

Been without phone and internet off and on - more off than on for over a week now. Signed up for new phone, internet and cable service lets see......I think Tuesday. Still no phone service but amazingly my old internet service provider has started working. First time its worked at all in 3 days. It started yesterday afternoon. I was able to read a few post here and make a couple before it went down again. I will never cacth up on everything here.
The good news is that I will be saving 80 dollars a month when everything is hooked up. The bad news is I discovered how dependent I am on the internet. Ummmm Not good. I also discovered how frustrating it can be to deal with canceling services and getting new ones. LOL
I watched the movie "Little House on the Prairie" last week. I remember thinking that the movie was so much more realistic than the weekly show. I also remember Charles going into town and getting the mail. Thinking to myself, how awful it would be to have to wait weeks or months to get information and how that information would all be such old news by the time we got it. How I talk to my children almost daily over the phone but there was a time when children left home in covered wagons/horse back or walking and maybe only heard from a few times in a parents entire lifetime and sometimes parents never heard from them again and never knew what happened to them.
I look at this age of instant information with very mixed feelings now. Having been without for just ONE week I felt deprived. That week has been on and off so I still got news, it has just been a day or two old news. But now I am kind of thinking.....ummm, do I really need to know all this stuff immediately? Plus, who determines what news is. Like the Michael Jackson Blackout. The day nothing else was reported on. Did we really need a whole day of news (news is used loosely in this case) covering that story?
Lots of interesting points there!

We went several years here without phone and internet. They were not on our priority list. Everyone we knew kept telling us we needed a phone. We didn't feel we needed it, and were fine without it. At that time we didn't want the extra bill, and I just used a prepaid tracfone for emergencies.

We only have our phone now due to Ernie having his back issues and we need the phone to be able to call for his appointments and stuff.

I always went to the library for internet.

2dream I agree with you about the whole instant information stuff and the "news". I often wonder about how it affects us.
Does anybody write letters anymore. I don't think the kids know how to write a letter. It used to be so exciting to get a letter in the mail. And many hours were spent writing letters and then re-writing them nicely.
I sitll love getting letters in the mail. Except I don't get any. There is something special about being able to sit and read a letter over and over. I occasionally get a card from older friends, it is so nice when there is a hand written note....
I make a point of occasionally writing a card/letter to someone.
And then there is the news thing. Do we really need to know all that information? Like all those details about Micheal Jackson? Heck, the media made more fuss about him, than if a president died!
Your GD is a cutie. I get to babysit my surrogate GD next saturday!! whoo hoo! :weee

We've borrowed the Little House movie several times from our local library when the grands were visiting. It is a great family movie.

The internet is such a blessing/curse. It was fairly new when my parents got sick, and helped us keep in touch with family members who could not travel back to Ohio to visit. But I agree there is just sooo much crap put out as "news". Sometimes I think it would not be so bad not to hear some "news" months or years after it happens. ;)

hey 2dream
I hear ya on the dependency of everything in a second at our fingertips. It is great and nasty at the same time ! :)
All depends on how WE decide to access it and allow it into our lives. We do have the control....

But our lives sure can change swiftly now with news 24/7, instant emails, instant "everything" in life almost.....oh well....I know what you mean.

How are you doing? Getting very very hot here now. Have the true southern weather. possible t-storms this afternoon but I doubt it...just looks like it but not much rain now like before.

What a nightmare. I still don't have internet at home. :barnie

But I do have a phone finally - only took 3 weeks and I should have intenet in a few more days. Waiting on UPS to deliver modem and stuff.

I WENT ON A MINI VACATION.
We rented a cabin at a local State Park for a few days. I was really exhausted when we got home. All that fishing, eating, sleeping, fishing, napping, eating oh yeah, and reading sure took a toll on me.

I sure miss you all. Will sure be glad when I internet at home is working. I have been so busy here at work I just have not had time to read or contribute.
