If this year promises to be a good one for the kiwi tree, and according to my FIL it looks like it's going to be, what can I do with kiwi fruit? FIL told me that a friend of his made jelly from it, but after adding lemon juice to flavor it up said she should have just made lemon marmalade.

I love kiwi fruit, but I won't be able to eat my way through an entire crop of them without making myself permanently sick of them. Has anyone here done anything or know anyone who's done anything with kiwi fruit?

I'd love all the help I can get, because I said "Don't throw them away, I'll take them!" XD
You can ship them to me :drool ;)

I'd experiment with drying them. If they don't go yucky black, they could be really awesome travel, camping, or bribery snack food (you all DO bribe your kids with the good stuff, don't you?). :)

They'd probably be good in chutney if you like chutney. I wonder if you could dry them, I have never tried.

Sounds like a plan. What about canning them? Would they get too mushy? I've never canned kiwi fruit before.
I've never tried to can them or even process them in any way...I eat them too quick ;) They'd never make it beyond fresh usage in my house.

You can dehydrate them!

I rarely get to eat Kiwi anymore. They charge as much as a $1 for one little in the stores here. :rant

I'm thinking maybe if you peel and slice you can freeze them individually on cookies sheets and then bag. Save for smoothies and other stuff.

Jam sounds good too.

good luck.

How about searching down a recipe for a vinegar? If apples can be made into such an excellent vinegar, then kiwi should have no problem becoming one. Not to mention the possibility of one great fruit wine being made out of them.:p
