Not sure how to word this. As long as we know that whatever labels we put on someone has nothing to do with that person--only us. DH and I have been labeled by lots of different folks for different reasons but that has nothing at all to do with us--it is just what they think (of us).
Exactly! Whatever anyone thinks about me, or wishes to label me as, is none of my business!

I will use labels for myself sometimes but only as a sorta shorthand.
If I call myself an organic gardener- the salesclerk at a garden center knows better than to try to sell me the latest chemical stuff. But I will still buy started plants- even if they were probably not organically grown. Anything I grow is for our personal use, so the origin doesn't matter as much as on a farm. When I talk to my friends about my practices- I just tell them I don't use chemicals in my garden.

If I label myself with other people- I make a point of using a few labels that don't fit together in a nice neat package- so the person will have to realize that I'm a well rounded person, not just a label.

I think throwing a label onto a person is 'just going' to happen.

I mean, if you take time to know a person, or even if you don't take time, at some point they are 'going to say or do' something that will put them into a certain group...along with a bit of a label of their personality, living style and beliefs, etc.

I think it is more of a 'how far do you take the label' on a person and corral them into just that label...when we all know there are many sides to a person and their lives.

A person could say ONE thing and be labeled as not being in your court and different and bad etc.
All the time not knowing anything more of their life etc.

Or a person could say ONE thing and labeled a saint, all the while behind hidden doors they are far from that.

I don't know...rambling about labels LOL

I don't care how I am labeled by anyone unless I get attacked. Other than that, I don't care how I label someone else or how they label me. I judge people. Sure. It is a kinda small judgement on others then I just say to myself, whatever, it is their life and they can do whatever they want and I will do what I want.

Normal is the abnormality of normal and those who have a psychology degree will understand where I am coming from with that. I avoid labels. Having worked in the psych field as a therapist, labels were present everywhere. Frankly, I am not one who needs to categorize or be placed in a category to be identified. I am me...whatever the heck joe blow wants to call me is his problem. Am I a prepper? A survivalist? A farmer? A hermit? A political atheist? ...I admit nothing, deny everything. If it helps the other chap to remember what I am, then more power to him, but really I am no different than anyone else and that means I think, eat, go to the bathroom, talk, dress, drive all the same as every other human being.
